We are overwhelmed with information yet, starved of wisdom…

Stories are uprooted from the lands they grew out of, with the intelligence they were nourished with and the memories they invoked.

Many of us have been cut off from our indigenous deep time earth-based Ways of Knowing and Remembering.

Here we come to remember remember remember.

This is a journey of reconnecting to our roots, our ancestral memory and learning with cultures across the world immersed in deep time intelligence, feeling, sensing, and working with the land, her story and our own journey of becoming wise.

The Living The Story Membership is an invitation to come alive with stories again, while learning the depth and power of knowledge that is place-based and supported by oral history technologies, while cultivating our own roles as custodians of story, land and memory.

“When we grasp fully that the best expressions of our humanity were not invented by civilization but by cultures that preceded it, that the natural world is not only a set of constraints but of contexts within which we can more fully realize our dreams, we will be on the way to a long overdue reconciliation between opposites which are of our own making.”

— Paul Shepard

CALLS:

Follow the seasonal rhythm of stories that meet your journey of becoming.

Stories have a way of shaping who we are, where we go and what we create and cultivate in our lives. Being nourished by deep ancestral land-based stories can guide us and access our bone deep knowing.

The language, shape and symbology of myth and story can unearth something deeper than intellect, beyond cognition, it can awaken your soul, body, memory and wisdom laying dormant awaiting recognition.

When we’re immersed in the realms of myth and story, we can have an interactive, multidimensional experience across our sensual living experience. Stories and our lives interweave where they feed, inform and shape one another.

In particular, the language of myth that hasn’t been cut off from a living context (lineage and land) can provide a tool for navigating our own soul’s journey, to understand better where we are from and where we are going.

“Stories are medicine. I have been taken with stories since I heard my first. They have such powers; they do not require that we do, be, act anything – we need only listen.”

— Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Seasonal Stories:

a storytelling + guided meditation journey, woven with ceremony and rites that follow the seasonal archetypal cycle of becoming:

Cultivate wisdom with Ancient Future Technologies, Ways of Knowing, and Remembering with the Land.

Join an adventure into our library with monthly classes that support the guidance and navigation into a deeper form of knowledge with oral history, knowledge that is connected to sacred land portals and wisdom that can only take shape in relationship to one another, Spirit and the land.

Inuit man Dempsey Bob said, ‘The trouble with whitefellas is that they keep all their brains in books.’

For Dempsey, the idea that our knowledge comes primarily from humans rather than from the creator ancestors, and that it is deposited in something as disembodied and dislocated as a book, is difficult to understand, if not unfathomable.

So how to we restore our oral history traditions? We meet with the technologies, processes and protocols that allow access to the archive within the land again, protected by sacred knowledge holders and traditions that can protect memories across at least 40,000 years, now proven by scientists tracking the geological events recorded in Australian Aboriginal Songlines.

Territories act as a carrier or memory bank of stories, as a medium, process and creation of stories, and an influence on the stories formed out of dreaming with the land.

We are opening the doors of our library again after 5 years…

of listening and learning how she wanted to be met with and explored as a:

  • journey of deepening personal integrity, responsibility and cultivation of wisdom ~ to become elders and wisdom keepers in training.

  • real relationship to the stories woven into the lands you live in and can learn about across the world past, present and future.

  • storytelling custodian who respects, protects, strengthens and helps grow the stories and cultural narratives that shape our better world.

Work with a book each season that has teeth that won’t leave you & legs that start to move you into right action

Alongside, our storytelling sessions and learning classes, each quarter we will gather to discuss how a book has moved, shaped and knocked on the door to our soul and moved us into a new pattern of being.

This is a secret circle bookclub where each of us works with a different but related book - you may read the whole text, work off one quote or meet all the passages that call to you — the most important aspect is how are these words, metaphors, meanings and stories are meeting you in your life.

What is important here is not how much you’ve read but how what you have read has sunk teeth in your life and shaped your journey. This is an embodied integration of knowledge that we each get to have our own experience of before sharing with one another.

Our world is made up of stories, stories that have a lot of influence on how we see ourselves and what actions we may take personally and collectively. If you want to take control of your life or work toward some kind of sustainable change in the world, you need to harness the power of story.’

Restoring the Deep Time ceremony of story.

In the Western world we’ve largely forgotten or uprooted a lot of the deeper folktale narratives connected to territory and place, and instead replaced it with simplistic stories of ‘good verses evil’, ‘science versus spirituality’, ‘civilized versus savage’, and ‘animal versus human.’

We also have the fundamental underlying stories of our current civilization that speak to control and power over nature, constant and linear advancement, intellect over embodied expression, and high individualism over communal engagement.

In terms of Creation Stories, we have the scientific theory of evolution and the big bang, without much cultural wisdom and guidance other than the ‘survival of the fittest’ or, religious stories such as the Christian Garden of Eden where we are taught to distrust the feminine (Eve), guidance from animals (from the snake) and thirst for knowledge (forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge).

Conversely, many indigenous Creation Stories are interwoven with wisdom from the land and with animals who act as guides.

Oral cultures, indigenous languages and rites are high context dependent, meaning the thinking and acting are dependent on the environment they are born out of.

This means they are inherently relational and knowledge is kept integral due to the checks and balances between respected knowledge keepers and their web of life in relationship to Natural Law.

{Monthly Classes}

‘I have previously talked about civilized cultures losing collective memory and having to struggle for thousands of years to gain full maturity and knowledge again, unless they have assistance. But that assistance does not take the form of somebody passing on cultural content and ecological wisdom. The assistance I'm talking about comes from sharing patterns of knowledge and ways of thinking that will help trigger the ancestral knowledge hidden inside. The assistance people need is not in learning about Aboriginal Knowledge but in remembering their own.’

— Tyson Yunkaporta

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Living Researcher, Storyteller & Shamanic Guide

Welcome kin, my name is Hannah,

Welsh raised, and Costa Rica rooted researcher, cross-cultural facilitator and shamanic guide ~ I weave story and ceremony, guiding initiations for deep remembering and healing with the living world and Web of Life.

Research came alive for me before I asked it to be. I went from the comfortable seat of a researcher following the breadcrumbs of a seemingly forgotten deep feminine history…

To documenting the voices of female elders, creating a place for their stories and memories of a different way ~ to be honored with reverence and brought back to shared memory here.

Through meeting with symbols in cloth, carvings in rocks, figurines that didn’t fit within my taught narrative of history, the Grandmothers gaze that stripped me down to my soul, to the territories whispering ‘we called you here, you better be paying attention’… I have been shapeshifting off into the deep end, and yet, for the first time in this life, this world began to make sense to me.

Sense as in: sensing, feeling, instinctively moving me and dreams unraveling truth… my mind has had to play catch up… as I keep asking: did I choose this? Did I ask for any of this? Did I get lost at the last turning of a page and, end up in another world?

By feeling my way I began to gain roots into a deeper connection with this Earth and all Her people.

Remember that:

You and I are special because we are part of something so special here.

From scouring endless books and too many academic papers to count, into living research out in the world that showed me how different life can be in reality.

Research that included telepathic learning, teaching lodges within dreams, territories becoming guide books and ceremonies revealing the spiral of time.

Sound woo woo? This is what we all know deep within our bones…

Are we nearly there yet?

We have only just begun.

Join me on this adventure.
